Volume is a measure of how much space an object occupies. Volume is the number of cubic units needed to fill a space.

Units

In the metric system volume is measured in units such as cubic metres (m3) and cubic centimetres (cm3).

Units like litres (L) and millilitres (mL) are derived units in the metric system and are not units in the International System of Units (SI) .

Although units like litres and millilitres are not units in SI, they are accepted for use with SI.

1 L = 1 dm3

1 L = 0.001 m3

1 mL = 0.000001 m3

1 mL = 1 cm3
