1. Character Change Template

The main character, David, has faced many challenges as he strives to reach his goal. Has he changed as a result? Use the character change template to reflect on the main character at the beginning and at the end of the story. What caused him to change? Record these things in the appropriate spaces on the template.

2. Character Analysis Paragraph

Consider the main character in your novel, David, and answer the following questions about his experiences in the novel. Formulate your answer as a paragraph, using a topic sentence, at least three supporting points with evidence from the novel, and a concluding sentence.

  1. What does the main character do when he faces a situation he does not want to live with? Does he swallow his opinions, and go with the flow? Or does he speak his mind and choose his own way to live, taking charge of his life?
  2. Does the main character pay a cost for doing this?
  3. Finally, is the reward worth it, for him?

To do your best, write a draft before writing your final copy. If possible, share the draft with another person to hear your reader's questions or suggestions before making the final copy.
