Guided Practice 4.3 C2: A Narrator’s Character Traits

Instructions

The narrator of "To Everything there is a Season" is a character of complex emotions. It is helpful when considering such a well-developed character to take a few moments to look closely at the characters' thoughts and feelings and actions. In order to make this process easy, fill in the following graphic organizer. The answers you develop here will help you to complete the section assignment.

To complete this activity you will have to identify four character traits held by the character. A character trait is a word or adjective that describes the character's personality. Examples of personality traits include brave, humble, courageous, serious, sad, resourceful, stubborn, helpful, happy, quiet, witty, calm, and mean. The list can go on and on. Think about the character: how would you describe him to someone else? See if you can identify a main or dominant trait that describes the overall personality. Then, identify additional traits.

Next, you need evidence from the story to support your traits; summarize an action or event from the story, or find a direct quotation.
