Safety Precautions

Who is Responsible?

The Employer
Every employer has the responsibility to maintain a safe work environment. They must ensure that all employees are aware of safe work practices particular to their workplace and to provide safety equipment and training required for the job. A worker may refuse to work if she or he believes the equipment, a physical condition, or a task is unsafe or a potential danger.

The Employee
Every worker must practice safe work habits while on the job site. All workers have the legal responsibility to take the required safety precautions outlined by the employer. These may include consideration to personal apparel, use of protective equipment, observance of housekeeping practices and adherence to lock out procedures.

Access the BC Worker's Compensation Act and the Worksafe Orientation Booklet to find the information needed to complete Assignment 1 Part A and Part B.

Safety is an important part of any job that you do. Watch the following video on worker safety.
