Course Description:   This exciting course is designed to introduce you to outdoor education.  We will be aligning this course with the Schools and Scouting program to give students a rich understanding of outdoor skills, risk management, preparation, leadership and community participation.   You will learn and develop practical skills in outdoor physical activity, first aid, survival skills and seasonal camping techniques. 

In addition, you will also learn about group dynamics and leadership, outdoor literature, equipment selection and care and trip/event planning.  This will give you a balance of knowledge to deal with a variety of outdoor activities.  As physical fitness and conditioning is an important part of being prepared for the outdoors, our personal fitness modules will enable you to participate effectively and safely during planned excursions.

Course Description:   This exciting course is designed to deepen and extend your knowledge of survival based outdoor skills.  We will be aligning this course with the Schools and Scouting program to give students a rich understanding of outdoor skills, risk management, planning, preparation, group leadership, as well as, advocating for community environmental awareness.  You will learn and develop practical skills in outdoor planning and organization, a variety of outdoor navigation and transportation methods, shelter construction and sustainable wilderness survival techniques.

 This course is geared for students who wish to gain deeper knowledge on learning detailed outdoor planning and organization techniques.  This would be particularly useful for those who plan to work in the outdoors, particularly remote settings.  Proper clothing and equipment will be assets to an enjoyable experience in the course.  Students wishing to take on this course will enjoy several trips including, temperate shelter camping, hiking, skiing, fishing, winter camping, as well as additional extracurricular opportunities.
